Instructor Bio: Andrew Hall

Andrew has been practicing HEMA since 2012, and has been an active part of the HEMA community and tournament scene for many years. Starting as a student of Chris Vivo, he also is an instructor at Einhorn Los Angeles. His experience in HEMA includes Italian and German longsword, wrestling, dagger, saber, and armored combat. He started looking at pugilism techniques in 2018, and continues to incorporate pugilism into his regular practice. To this day, he still makes time to train with Chris.

An Introduction on Montsery's Method of Pugilism

CLASS DESCRIPTION:
While it doesn't get as much attention within the HEMA community, bare-knuckle boxing (BKB)/pugilism has a long tradition within western martial arts. And one of the most complete and systematically written method of self-defense using pugilism comes from Thomas Montsery. This class is an introduction on some of the basic footwork, punches, parries, and combinations of attacking and defending from Thomas Montsery's published articles on boxing/self-defense. Combined with plenty of time to practice some of these basic techniques with others, you will have a basic understanding of of the core aspects of Montsery's pugilism and some hands-on practice at the end of this class.

CLASS FORMAT:
Hands-On

REQUIRED GEAR:
No gear necessary; but light MMA gloves, boxing helmet with cage, fencing masks, or HEMA gloves are a plus.
