Instructor Bio: Ian Terry
Ian lives and breathes everything HEMA. With a deep understanding of Latin and a passion for historical sources, Ian not only leads fencing lessons but is also constantly updating his understanding of the texts. He absolutely loves the nuance of understanding why a move not only works, but how it was culturally informed and based deep in the psyche of those who developed it.
Ian has a long history in various physical arts, starting from the age of 6 as a national championship Irish Dancer, and has been practicing blade-related martial arts, such as olympic fencing, since 1998. He has taught at several schools over the years, but is currently the head of San Diego Swordschool.
