Be An Instructor
Class Submission Form
If you are interested in being an instructor at SoCal Swordfight 2019, please let us know.
We are open to offering classes within the traditional HEMA curriculum and some from outside that will support the understanding and application of our art.
This form allows instructors to submit their classes to for review. It provides a larger pool of classes to choose from, rather than attempting to fill all of our spaces by contacting people directly, which generally results in instructors we are already familiar with. Please consider the following before submitting this form:
- Submission of a class is not a confirmation of being invited to teach a class at SoCal Swordfight 2019. We will review all classes and choose the ones that are most appropriate for our event. There are many reasons we may pass on a class, including having too many similar classes or having filled the slots on the days you are available to teach. There is a second or alternative class description field included if you would like to submit two options. We will email everyone we would like to invite and will email everyone who submitted a class by the end of November 2019 if slots fill.
- We are primarily interested in intermediate to advanced classes and lectures on longsword, messer, dagger, wrestling, polearms, rapier, sword and buckler, and miscellaneous other topics relevant historic European martial arts.
- The class submission form will remain active until November 1, 2018. Any submission that does not include a proper bio or class description will be rejected.
- Instructors invited to teach at SoCal Swordfight are generally required to staff about 10 hours across the four days of the event, including any class time, in exchange for full registration compensation. Instructors who don’t perform this staffing requirement will need to register normally.
