Course Description:
Guro Ferd taught his first combat spear class at SoCal Swordfight 2019 and will return to teach another exciting class on the subject at SoCal Swordfight 2023.
Although the spear is used primarily for thrusting and throwing from long range, those familiar with Asian combat systems know there's a great deal of slashing and close-quarter attacks as well. Students experienced with long sword and montante will notice some interesting similarities.
Expect to see lots of fast maneuvering and (controlled) contact drills.
This session will include a solo live-blade spear (flow) demonstration.
