Historical European Martial Arts Rapier Tournament and Rapier & Dagger Tournament at SoCal Swordfight
SoCal Swordfight hosts two tiers of Historical European Martial Arts Rapier Tournaments. Our Rapier tournaments are highly competitive and attract fighters from across the country and around the world.
Each is tailored to unique skill and experience levels so please feel choose the one that is right for you to participate in. You are only allowed to participate in One Rapier Tournament, so please choose the one you feel is most appropriate for where you are in your HEMA journey.
Please be sure to review the information below about our Rapier Tournament tiers, and click the links concerning required equipment, rules, and scoring before completing registration.
Advanced Rapier & Dagger Tournament
Advanced Rapier was added to the SoCal Swordfight tournament schedule in 2018. Robert Childs, of the Black Tigers, captured the Gold in this event for 2022 (as he did in 2020, and 2018). Per HEMAratings.com, Robert Childs is currently ranked number 1 in the world in single rapier and number 7 in the world in rapier and dagger (these ranking do not yet reflect his victory at SoCal Swordfight 2022).
Open Rapier Tournament
Open Rapier at SoCal Swordfight was adjusted in 2022 to be a single rapier only event. Chandler Brown, of En Garde Fencing, captured the Gold in this event for 2022. Chandler has yet to be rated for his prowess with a rapier on HEMAratings.com, however we will be sure to update this page when HEMA Ratings reflect his victory at SoCal Swordfight 2022.
Both Rapier events are BRING YOUR OWN SWORD (& DAGGER) Events.
Based on tournament participation and known performance, you may be asked to participate at a different tier than you registered for, we will notify you if this type of situation occurs.
