Introduction to British Broadsword and Saber

Course Description:
This is an introduction to British Broadsword. The British broadsword system, explained in detail in Roworth, Page, and others, focuses on using the sword is the most defensive manner possible, providing cover with every attack, and minimizing the opponent’s ability to strike.

Required Gear:
Broadsword or saber (steel or synthetic are fine) and appropriate protective equipment for light sparring.

Ring-Coaching: How to Empower Your Fencers in the Ring

Course Description:
This is a weapon-agnostic coached sparring class!

Effective ring-coaching is all about empowering the fencer; your goal is to help them focus on fencing well, while you worry about other small details that might help give them an edge. In this class, students will be given examples of effective and ineffective coaching, and taught the principles that make for good ring-coaching.

Students will be fencing AND coaching each other in this class. If a student is comfortable doing one but not the other, they are still welcome to attend.

Required Gear:
Full sparring kit!

Bring any and all weapons you are interested in using to fence.
