Instructor Bio: Rebecca Glass

Rebecca Glass has been practicing HEMA since 2014 and competing since 2015. She is a frequent competitor on the national HEMA circuit including SoCal in 2015, 2019, 2020, and most recently in 2022. Some would say she is an okay fencer. She is a huge proponent of making competition accessible to all, regardless of previous athletic background or experience.

Rebecca is also a long-time longsword judge and director; she has directed at events including, Flowerpoint, Fecht Yeah, IGX, AGO, and SoCal Swordfight, where she has directed finals events in 2020 and 2022.

Brain Games: Empowerment and Coping Strategies for Competitive HEMA

CLASS DESCRIPTION:
Brain Games is designed to help fencers come up with coping and empowerment strategies to help them enjoy the tournament experience.

We'll address ways to reduce injury risk, good training culture, and tournament prep as well as strategies for dealing with performance anxieties on the tournament day.

If time allows, we will also look at how to make the most out of working with your tournament coach.

CLASS FORMAT:
Hands-On

REQUIRED GEAR:
Mask, gloves, gorget, sword; full upper body kit preferred.

Beginner and Intermediate Levels
