Rebecca Glass

Rebecca Glass has been practicing HEMA since 2014 and competing since 2015. She is a frequent competitor on the national HEMA circuit including SoCal in 2015, 2019, 2020, and most recently in 2022. Some would say she is an okay fencer. She is a huge proponent of making competition accessible to all, regardless of previous athletic background or experience.

Rebecca is also a long-time longsword judge and director; she has directed at events including, Flowerpoint, Fecht Yeah, IGX, AGO, and SoCal Swordfight, where she has directed finals events in 2020 and 2022.

Brain Games: Empowerment and Coping Strategies for Competitive HEMA

Course Description:
Brain Games is a class designed to help fencers who are new to competitive HEMA, or those who have never felt comfortable competing, discover coping and empowerment strategies to enjoy the competitive experience. We'll discuss how to deal with anxieties around injuries and looking bad, and how to use coping strategies such as finding a coach who can work with you, goal setting strategies, and how to process your adrenaline-fueled emotions after both victory and defeat.

Required Gear:
Mask, gloves, gorget minimum; full upper body sparring kit preferred.
