Max Zimet has been a member of San Diego Swordfighters since 2021. Before discovering his passion for historical fencing, he trained in multiple martial arts and combat sports. He has a foundational understanding of rapier, messer, and smallsword, but primarily focuses on longsword and saber. In longsword, he studies the glosses of early Lichtenauer masters, and in saber, he researches British military sources such as Roworth, Waite, and Hutton. Max has achieved competitive success in both disciplines, earning multiple medals in open and advanced tournaments, including gold at CombatCon for advanced longsword in both 2024 and 2025. Beyond technical training, he dedicates significant time to researching effective coaching and instructional methods.
