Mary Spohn is a lifelong martial artist and the owner of Swordplay LA, where she has dedicated her career to training athletes, talent, and sword enthusiasts alike. A four-time national medalist in Olympic fencing and one of the top-ranked women’s fencers in the United States, Mary went on to fence at the Division I collegiate level, earning a NCAA scholarship and competing at the highest tiers of the sport. In recent years, she has expanded her competitive journey into Historical European Martial Arts, most recently winning Bronze in Women’s Longsword at Combat Con 2025. With over two decades of teaching and performance experience, Mary brings a rare blend of technical precision, historical insight, and dynamic coaching style to her education.
