Michael found his way into HEMA via stage combat. He was fortunate that while he was training for the stage his mentor introduced him to the world of HEMA nearly two decades ago. After spending several years traveling, learning, and teaching he opened Tuathair Academy of Swordsmanship in Indianapolis. When he is not swinging steel or spending time with family, he also works with Krieger Armory as their COO as well as various other makers and distributors as a logistics and operations consultant. He uses his connection with Krieger Armory and his school to bring attention and sponsorships to small and midsize tournaments across the country from Legend of the Lake in Vermont hosted by University of Vermont's HEMA club to Violent Knight Hosted by Oahu Company of Historical Swordsmanship in Honolulu Hawaii and everywhere in between. He tries to foster intersectional inclusivity wherever he goes, and with whomever he supports and he is proud to be instructing at SoCal 2026.
