Jeff Tsay

Jeff Tsay is a versatile and accomplished martial artist with a rich background in both Eastern and Western martial traditions. Affiliated with Forte Swordplay, Jeff has spent years honing his skills in various unarmed and armed Eastern arts, including wing chun, before delving into the intricate world of Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA).

Jeff's expertise in HEMA is marked by his meticulous interpretation and analysis of historical techniques, particularly those from the German tradition of Kunst des Fechtens (KdF). He has extensively studied and practiced techniques from renowned sources such as "Krump," "Rose," and "Aussere Mynn," which he has successfully applied in national and international tournaments like Swordfish, Longpoint, and Fechtschule America.

In addition to his competitive achievements, Jeff has been a pioneer in using video as a medium for sharing HEMA research. His efforts have led to the production of three major US HEMA Series Livestreams in 2013, significantly contributing to the global HEMA community.

Jeff is also a key organizer of the Iron Gate Exhibition (IGX), one of the premier HEMA and Western Martial Arts conferences in the United States, which he helps host every fall and now in the spring as well. Beyond his martial pursuits, Jeff is a professional solution architect, a devoted husband, and a dedicated father of two.
