Jeff first began taking classes in modern 3-weapons fencing in 1995. In 1996, he started fighting in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) and added classes in theatrical fencing to his study. In 2001, his search for history and technique of western martial arts brought him to the Tattershall School of Defense – Southern California run by Gary Chelak. Since that time, Jeff has continued his study within the SCA, TSD and independently focusing on studying the historical development of sword play across cultures throughout Europe and time periods.
Currently, Jeff is an Instructor and Vice-President at Tattershall and was admitted to the Order of the White Scarf in 2005 and made a Master of the Laurel for Historical Combat Research and a Master of Defense for Rapier and Cut & Thrust Combat in 2015 (SCA).
