Kerri Tamplin (Nee McArthur)

Kerri Tamplin, a seasoned instructor in Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA), brings a wealth of experience and passion to the SoCal Swordfight community. Her journey in HEMA began in 2015 in Edinburgh with the Dawn Duellists, where she was introduced to the art of historical fencing. She soon found her niche with the Black Boar group, developing a deep love for sabre and smallsword.

Following her move to the south, Kerri played a pivotal role in establishing Cambridge Historical Fencing in 2018 and quickly took on teaching responsibilities. Her expertise and dedication caught the attention of the London Historical Fencing Club, who invited her to teach sabre, an opportunity she eagerly accepted.

Kerri is an active member and instructor of both Cambridge Historical Fencing and the London Historical Fencing Club, where she has also served as secretary and chair. Her teaching focuses primarily on sabre, drawing from British, French, and American sources, as well as smallsword, with a special emphasis on the works of Girard and Angelo.

Kerri holds an IL1 certification from the British Federation for Historical Swordplay (BFHS) and has recently been certified to assess other BFHS instructor candidates. Her unique blend of technical skill, historical knowledge, and leadership qualities makes her an invaluable asset to the HEMA community.
