Sean Ellis is one of the co-founders of the Los Angeles Historical European Martial Arts Society, an assistant instructor at Academy of Arms Los Angeles, and a member of the Order of the Broken Hand. Their contributions to the preservation and practice of historical martial include authoring essays for the HEMA Alliance’s “How to HEMA” series along with working with notable figures such as Martin Fabian, Richard Marsden, and Devon Boorman on material based in the traditions of Lichtenauer, Fiore, Leckuchner, and Marozzo.

Their most recent project was editing a new translation of the Speyer Codex along with the rest of the Fechtbuch Fabian and completing the latest version of the classic RPG Tales from the Floating Vagabond.

Beyond HEMA, Sean is passionate about teaching and sharing their insight with others. Their engaging personality and extensive knowledge make them a worthy addition to your SoCal 2025 checklist!
